Fantastic Products

I live in about the worst climate for rust - very moist air, lots of fog, a high salt content in that air from the Atlantic Ocean, lots of fog from that cold Atlantic ocean as the Gulf Stream intersects with the Arctic currents and a mild snowy winter where they love to kill the icy roads with salt! It's so bad, I have a double pane window in the house with a broken seal for about 9 months now and it steams up real bad - now after the summer and it's had time to dry out, there is actually salt building up between the window panes! This is a long message but you guys have helped me so much I owe something back. And unfortunately we know a lot about Auto Rust on the coast of Newfoundland in St. John's - the oldest city and most easterly point in North America - (well actually it's a place called Cape Spear which is a blast of a drive, 15 min outside of our beautiful city)! Anyway, a product called Rust Check is most popular in Canada (there are many similar products around) for rust proofing. Once metal has rusted on the surface there are also special paints (and I don't mean the Tremclad type of stuff) that will penetrate surface rust and reverse the rusting process by chemically turning the rust into a harmless oxide (brands I have seen in auto stores are called POR - think Bruce sells it, and Rust Destroyer).

Another Canadian winter

Dear Rust Check,

Well here we are in late fall, new cars being purchased, older ones being prepared for another Canadian winter. Here in Atlantic Canada (The Rust Capital of the World) that need not be true thanks to Rust Check. I have been in the Automotive business for over 46 years as an Interprovincial Certified Automotive Service Technician. I taught Vocational School for 30 years and presently own and operate "Tunebethune Automotive Consulting". Soooo , there are many Rust preventatives on the market, sooo much advertising and claims and testimonials, how does one chose. Here is a tip: Go to the Auto Body Repair Shops and ask them how many vehicles they see in for rust repair that have been "Rust Checked " annually, I have done this ! They all tell me "We get 'em in for collision damage but not rust repair."

But.... some people say "you have to do it every year" Yes ,I say, but at about one hundred bucks a year that's great insurance!" Ever price the cost of painting a scratch, let alone repair rust .

The new (or shall I say old) galvanic reaction electronic rust protection devices are OK... but they depend on and consume battery current... not much but enough to consume energy, this equals $$$$ and more fuel consumption in North America.

Just a few things to ponder:

The competition continue to make statements..." Our Brand is as good as Rust Check " or ,"It is almost as good as Rust Check and you only have to do it once"

My response? What is your Guarantee and who is going to honor it Nation Wide? and " If Rust Check is the benchmark by which all other brands are compared, wouldn't one be wise to go with the benchmark."

My recommendation still after all these years? .... Ride Free, Rust Free, with Rust Check. Accept nothing less!
